Daţi-mi un trup voi munţilor – Give Me a Body You Mountains – Lucian Blaga

O poezie cu adevarat mareata, traducerea imi apartine.

A truly great poem, here is my own translation.

ce-l port.

Daţi-mi un trup

voi munţilor,

mărilor,

daţi-mi alt trup să-mi descarc nebunia

în plin!

Pamântule larg fii trunchiul meu,

fii pieptul acestei năpraznice inimi,

prefă-te-n lăcaşul furtunilor, cari mă strivesc,

fii amfora eului meu îndărătnic!

Prin cosmos

auzi-s-ar atuncea măreţii mei paşi

şi-aş apărea năvalnic şi liber

cum sunt,

pamântule sfânt.

Când aş iubi,

mi-aş întinde spre cer toate mările

ca nişte vânjoase, sălbatice braţe fierbinţi

spre cer

să-l cuprind,

mijlocul să-i frâng

să-i sărut sclipitoarele stele.

Când aş urî,

aş zdrobi sub picioarele mele de stânca

bieţi sori

şi poate-aş zâmbi.

Dar numai pe tine te am trecătorul meu trup.

Give Me a Body You Mountains

I have only got you my evanescent body

and yet

red and white flowers, I’m not putting on your brow and your locks,

because your weak clay

it’s too tight for the tremendous soul

I bear.

Give me a body

you mountains,

you seas,

give me another body to fully unleash

my madness!

Wide earth, be my torso,

become shelter for the storms that crush me,

be my stubborn ego’s amphora!

Through the cosmos,

my great steps would sound

free and wild I’d appear

just as I am,

sacred earth.

When I love,

I would reach for the sky with all my seas

like strong, wild, hot arms

for the sky

to reach it,

to break its middle

to kiss its sparkling stars.

When I hate,

under my stony feet I would crush

poor stars

and maybe I’d smile.

But I have only got you my evanescent body.
