Da, sunt gata să fiu

vântul viclean, străveziu,

prevestind naufragii –

Și-apoi, pe fantasticul cer

tot eu să fiu steaua de ger

pe care-o văzuseră magii.

Da, sunt gata să sparg

corabia ta, catarg cu catarg

și-apoi s-aprind un luceafăr

care, pe ape blajine

să te aducă spre mine

cu-ncredere, teafăr.

Yes, I am ready to be

the cunning, clear wind,

harbinger of shipwrecks –

And then, in the fantastic sky

me again the frost star

the mages had seen.

 

Yes, I am ready to break

your ship, mast by mast

and then to light the morningstar

that, on gentle waters

will bring you to me

in confidence, safe.
